Abstract. Compact cover after the first season of cultivating Chamaemelum nobile ‘Plenum’ created, and Arenaria balearica after the second season. It means that the deployment of plants taken in the experiment was proper for a quick effect of a covered surface. The mulching with pine bark inhibited the dynamics of plant growth in the first two years of cultivation.

The dynamics of growth of some covering perennial plants

Summary

The aim of the experiment was to evaluate growth of some taxa of covering perennials and influence of mulching with pine bark on their growth. To fulfill the purpose the following taxa were taken into account: Geranium × cantabrigiense ‘Biokovo’ and ‘Karmina’, Chamaemelum nobile ‘Plenum’, Viola cornuta ‘Alba Minor’, Potentilla calabra and Arenaria balearica. To assess the dynamics of plant growth the diameter of plants and the surface of covered ground by one plant were measured.
